Impacting Workplace Culture

Do You Hear Him Say Your Name?

By: Bill Dalgetty

John 20:16

Jesus said to her, “Mary”.

On the first day of the week following Jesus’ crucifixion, Mary Magdalene had gone to the tomb where Jesus had been laid.  She sees that Jesus’ body is not in the tomb and she is distraught.  She encounters Jesus, but does not recognize him, thinking he is the gardener.  Though she does not recognize him by sight, she does by the way he says her name.  It was a sound familiar to her and exclusive to their relationship.

"Come On In"

By: Frank Adamo

Luke 23:42

Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.

"When I get to heaven I just want Jesus to give me a nod and say 'Come on in'." I can remember the day my good friend and CIC brother, Ruben, said this during our Saturday morning Challenge Group meeting. I know because I wrote it my journal. One month later, Ruben went to see Jesus. He died of a sudden, unexpected heart attack.

Go God!

Matthew 25:21

His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!”

The “Go Green” campaign is all around. The campaign has already done a lot to educate us about conserving resources and making energy-conscious decisions. Consumers are now selecting green products, recycling more than ever, and driving innovations around clean energy.

Formation in Fellowship

By: Ken Balestrieri

1 Corinthians 1:9

God, who has called you into fellowship with his son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

There is a grace in fellowship that is not present any other time. When men and women of God meet together in fellowship, such as in Challenge Groups, God uses our gifts, along with his grace, to fulfill a need in someone else. Conversely, God uses the gifts of others to fulfill a need in you.

Remnant of the Kingdom

By: Steve Becker

Zephaniah 3:12-13a

But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the Lord.  The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found on their lips.

The remnant of Israel was not a showy bunch.  They were meek and humble and known by their trust in God.  We are called today to be God’s remnant in a post-Christian culture.  How are we doing?

Promised Peace

By: Nancy Harless

Acts 4:8-12

There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.

Growing up, my family rarely attended church. I had always known about God from stories and songs I was taught. I thought God loved us and that was it, end of story. I didn’t understand that in any relationship there is receiving and giving of oneself.

Simple Choices, Big Implications

By: Pat Hobert

Proverb 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

God truly wants us to make wise commitments, because if we make the wrong commitments, the consequences will affect every area of our lives. More importantly, the Bible says our commitments affect three things: our values, our character and our destiny. Even the most seemingly insignificant choices we make on a daily basis can have long-term implications.
