Daily Reflections

Each day we send out a daily reflection to anyone who asks. These reflections may include a scripture applied to a workplace issue, or a firsthand account of how another Christian deals with a particular challenge in his or her workplace. These reflections will help you gain greater understanding of how you can be Christ in your workplace.

Examples Of Daily Reflections

Right Here. Right Now.
“No one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again.” (John 3:3)

Many think Jesus is talking about a Kingdom in the distant future. He’s not. He’s talking about a Kingdom that’s here and now (and on into eternity). That dramatically changes our perspective.

There’s urgency when you realize it’s for right here, right now. We’re born again to see the Kingdom and to build it. It’s not for our own sake; it’s for what the Father wants to accomplish through us now.

By being “born again” we are equipped to do the work of expanding the Kingdom today. One day we’ll be in the fullness of the Kingdom; but, until that day, we must be “born again” to see and build the Kingdom right here and right now in our daily lives.

Take the Challenge:

Open up your “born again” eyes to see the Kingdom in front of you this week. What does the Father want to accomplish through you?

Standing Up for Truth
John was working for a new company that had resulted from the rollup merger of six separate companies. The company went public and their first-quarter report was critical. Unfortunately, the performance fell short of expectations by two cents a share. To offset this shortfall, management decided to pre-bill several hundred thousand dollars of next quarter sales into the current quarter.

John learned what was being done and knew he couldn’t be party to false reporting of income. After prayer and discussion with his Christians in Commerce brothers, he decided to talk to the president of the new company. The pre-billing was in conflict with the company’s expressed vision of being an industry leader in several key areas — including integrity.

The president said he was aware of this but that the attorneys had approved it. After a lengthy appeal, John said, “Jesus loves you and wants us to do what’s best, but reporting income falsely is not God’s best. I can’t work for a company that’s going to operate this way.”

After consulting the attorneys, the president decided to overturn the decision. The first quarter’s income for the new company was reported truthfully.

Take the Challenge:
Examine your own practices and the practices of your company. How do they measure up to the Kingdom? Prayerfully consider what your next step might be.
