Making Meetings Matter

2 Corinthians 5:20

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,as though God were making his appeal through us.We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

As a young financial advisor, I try to get out and network in the community. Several networking groups provide good opportunities to meet other professionals and follow up with lunch or coffee to get to know them better. At first, this was purely a way for me to build my professional network.

Ever since I experienced CIC’s Working for Our Father series, however, my perspective has changed. Now, I try to view these meetings through the eyes of our Father, staying attentive and open to opportunities to be a witness.

Recently, I have had a few such opportunities. One new acquaintance mentioned having gone to church over the weekend and the conversation grew from there. In another meeting, we discussed our faith lives, and he shared his desire to raise his children in a solid Christian home. I shared the experience of my CIC Challenge Group and how I look up to and learn from a core group of amazing men. Then I invited him to join our small group the following week.

I try to start my day with a simple prayer: “Lord, open my eyes to what you have in store for me today and who you put across my path.” By starting the day with that mindset, it is amazing the kinds of blessings you begin to discover, and how you can bring blessings to others when you are available to God.
