The Traits of a Disciple

By: Gary Brown

John 13:35

This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

I introduced Ron, our CIC speaker of the week, by reading off pre-typed notes. But as I rattled off some of his history, these ending words unexpectedly escaped my mouth: "Ron is easy to love."

It is true. He is a disciple who exudes gentleness and peace. He carries himself in a way that makes him easy to approach, easy to confide in and easy to trust. Because he has these characteristics he is a person easy to love.

Following the meeting I began to ask myself, "Am I easy to approach, to confide in, and trust?" As we go out into the world to be disciples for Christ these characteristics help us to do his work.

It is incumbent upon me and all of us to pray and strive to have these traits as best we can to be disciples to the best of our ability.

TAKE THE CHALLENGE: Am I easy to approach, easy to confide in and easy to trust?
