The New Woman

Susan Cabrera

John 7:24

Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.

I belong to a nonprofit group that offers financial assistance to the needy for things like utilities and rent.  Before assisting them, we go in pairs to visit the home.

The Lord's Favor

Nanci Panos

Luke 4: 18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Give Knowledge

Sophia Norman

Matthew 28: 19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

At an event focused on art and history, the speaker addressed the issue of teenage apathy towards culture and history. Most of us in the audience were nodding our heads, assuming he would target teenagers themselves as the culprits.

God's Business

Ken Balestrieri

Colossians 1:27

In the nearly twenty years I have spent as a self-storage operator, I have witnessed situations both strange and sad. Many people have a need for storage space after a divorce, a death in the family, or a failing business, all of which are opportunities to introduce them to Christ.

The Slight Pause

Brad Prose

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Difficult People

Jennifer Ellis

2 Timothy 1:7-9

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.

Checking In

By: Jon Cassady

Matthew 5:16

… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Our mission as Christians has always had an outward focus that includes being present and available to individuals, both at work and at home. I’ve experienced this firsthand while praying for others. When someone comes to mind, I check on them. A quick text or email saying, “Just checking in, how’s your day going?” often gets a response.
