Fall Barbeque/Fundraiser - 2016

Central Mesa Chapter held its 2nd Annual TGIF (Thank God It’s Fall!) Family Barbeque & Fundraiser on Friday, October 7th in the backyard of Randy Fornoff’s home in Mesa, Arizona.  Randy is a former Chapter president and hosted last year’s barbeque as well.  The event was a pot-luck style barbeque open to all of the CIC Chapters in the Phoenix area along with their families and guests, with activities for the kids (the trampoline and the bounce and tree houses were all hits), and plenty of good food and cheer.

The barbeque was attended by 21 CIC members representing 5 Chapters and included about 10 children in addition to spouses and guests.  Grilling was done by Central Mesa’s “Master Chef” Augustin Viscarra who singlehandedly provided us with tasty hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. Our thanks to Augustin for stepping up and going the distance!

Fundraising activities included a 50/50 Raffle and a Beanbag Toss Tournament featuring 2-man teams with a cash prize for the winners.  The raffle was won by Jeannie Shepple, wife of Mesa Chapter brother Steve Shepple, and the Beanbag Toss was won by the Andrew Svorinic/Gary Egan team of the Mesa Chapter.   We look forward to seeing the champs return next year for a rematch against what will sure to be a much improved lot of contenders!

Half of the event proceeds were donated to charity to benefit the Louisiana flood victims.

Our special thanks go out to Randy & Christine Fornoff for hosting the event, and to all the CIC men and spouses who helped make this regional event a success.  We look forward to an even bigger and better barbeque next year.

Happy fall, everyone!
