Santa Cruz Annual Fundraising Barbeque

Keith Rushing

The Santa Cruz Christians in Commerce Chapter hosted its annual fundraising barbeque on the 24th of August at the beautiful Schaffer Park. The crowd enjoyed some amazing hor d'oeuvres followed by a delicious spread of pork, chicken, sausages and salads. Then, when you thought it couldn't get any better, Dan Casagrande and his team put an incredible strawberry shortcake on the table that no one could resist!

Some of the adults engaged in a spirited Bocce Ball competition, while others simply enjoyed the great weather and warm fellowship with friends and family in the fabulous setting amongst the redwoods. The kids had a great time on the zip line and the playground, eating donuts on a string, and doing a treasure hunt that covered several acres of the park. A good time was had by all.

There were many guests that had their first exposure to CIC and left with a very favorable impression of the group and our mission to advance the kingdom of God in the marketplace. We were also very honored to have among our guests Terry Cassell, President of Christians in Commerce. It was such a blessing to have him be a part of our afternoon!

There were over a hundred items for the silent auction and some serious bidders, which helped cover our budget through the rest of the year. The success of the barbeque was the result of the hard work of the CIC members (men and women) and their spouses. We are a blessed people.

Angelo De Bernardo, Michael Croghan and the servant team provided great leadership, care and love, which contributed greatly to the success of the event!
